Provide food boxes and groceries to Seniors and low-income families, cook and serve hot meals to homeless individuals/families, and after-school meals to school-aged children through collaborative partnerships.
Resource referrals to minority populations, and others, for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STDs, COVID-19, and Tuberculosis testing.
Who We Are
First Step Community Empowerment (FSCE) is a Faith-based 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization that address societal ills in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolitan low-income communities through social and economic development. The staff and volunteers have over 50 years of combined social and economic development experience.
Our Mission
FSCE's mission is to address societal ills and social equity with viable resources on a case-by-case basis. FSCE strives to exceed all expectations by providing quality workforce development services for unemployed/underemployed individuals, dislocated workers, and justice-involved persons with comprehensive job placement assistance, social/economic development, capacity building, resource referrals and the building of affordable homes/multi family housing.
Seasoned professional with over 30-years’ experience in the implementation of workforce development and occupational training programs, successfully incorporated job placement programs for adults, dislocated workers/underprivileged individuals and at-risk youth, facilitation of pre/post workforce development training; proactively recruit qualified talent for employers; develop and cultivate relationships with employers that hire criminal justice involved individuals; address equity/equality/inclusion with employers to strengthen workforce ecosystems; and establish working relationships with federal, state and local social service agencies.
Eight years coordination of economic development initiatives through collaborations with Developers and General Contractors in Opportunity Zones; assist Developers with finding qualified Sub-contractors, tradesmen, trades helper, and general laborers throughout the duration of a construction project; two years as an Assistant Developer. Dr. Adams is currently overseeing the development of affordable homes in Texas and Arkansas
Over 20-years management and supervision of employees, wrote and managed grants in excess of 1.9 million dollars for several nonprofits, managed two innovative self-sufficiency employment grants for Lockheed Martin IMS & Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas that were funded by the Texas Workforce Commission in excess of $500,000, Work for Wheels and It Pays to Stay on the Job, assisted criminal justice involved individuals and at-risk-youth with the obtainment of employment-related services and job placement assistance, and coordinated over 100 job fairs through Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, the Urban League of Greater Dallas & North Central, Dallas College, Community/Faith-based Organizations and local churches that attracted over 50,000 job seekers in which thousands of individuals acquired gainful employment.
